Hi all, stumbled across this forum while trying to find other owners of a Metropolis near to me. I have been looking on and off for 6 months, without success. Has anyone tried asking Peugeot UK to put a link to this forum on their scooter site?.
I tried riding an Aprilia Tuono, but was sad to find that with an inside leg of 28 inches, I could not reliably get my feet down on uneven road surfaces. Could not find any motorcycle that I liked that fitted me, and came across the Metropolis in a local dealership, and was impressed with the suspension lock system. Still cannot get my feet flat down though. After a couple of oower moments, purchased a pair of Doc Marten boots with 2 inch platform soles. I feel a bit of a prat off the scooter (I am an OAP), but can now get my feet down with confidence on all surfaces.
I have ridden 3000 miles this year, but have yet to see another Metropolis on the road!. (I live in Central Derbyshire). I don't feel that local scooter clubs are for me. They seem focussed on Lambretta type scooter rallies, real ale, and Folk music evenings. Is there anyone out there?.
I turned to powered riding after declining health ruled out continuing to cycle. I love this scooter. It gives me the freedom to get out and enjoy the local lanes, and meet up with my old cycling buddies for lunch. The Metropolis has ample power for me, although I would love to see a 500cc twin motor. I would also like a reverse gear. Twice I have encountered HGVs filling the narrow lane on a downhill for me. Impossible to turn on such narrow lanes and impossible to push a quarter ton machine backwards uphill. I had to enlist the aid of the HGV drivers. Don't you just love non HGV specific satnavs!.
I live in hope of meeting up with another Metropolis owner one day!.
