Well whilst I was in the U.K. over Xmas I read a copy of MCN with a review of the Metropolis. It then went on to say the above, all assets of Peugeot motorcycles had been purchased by Mahindra. Continued to say Piaggio had taken Peugeot to court and there was a big fine and Peugeot had to cease production immediately of the Metropolis. I found another article from MCN dated October 6 last a year,it states,
‘Piaggio have won a legal dispute with Peugeot Motorcycles in Paris and Milan over the three-wheel leaning scooter mechanism used in the firm’s MP3 and Metropolis scooters. The rulings are still subject to appeal, but in France Peugeot must pay €1.5m plus further penalties and legal expenses and stop producing and selling three-wheelers of this design. The tilting machines must also be removed from sale in Italy where fines will be issued for every bike sold after the court ruling.
This could be bit of a blow as I intended to register mine here in France. Also need a Certificate of Conformity to register the machine. Where do find a Mahindra shop? Where Will we be for filters etc. Not scaremongering but if this is correct what about the Quadro,Can am or Yamaha Tricity or Niken. Very strange, not even copy of the Piaggio engineering.
