Hello. I have been riding bikes for 35 years and have been through all sorts including Moto Morini 3 1/2, BSA 650 with double adult sidecar and MZs. I currently have a CBR300R but am finding it harder to get my leg over. (just the bike, no problems elsewhere). What are your thoughts on the Metropolis as a multi purpose pleasure machine for day rides and UK touring? Thoughts and experiences including reliability and costs most welcome. Thank you.

Been riding for 45 yrs plus and Osteoarthritis of the hip and back forced me to stop riding early last year for exactly the same reason.
My wife suggested a scooter for these ease of getting on and off and started searching for something decent like a Burgman but then spotted an MP3 in a local dealers. I gave it a try and it was ideal. Did some homework and found the Metropolis was a bit cheaper.
I wasn't bothered about the ABS and Traction control (lucky to have brakes at all when I started riding). I searched and found there are a few 2016 models still available new and at a reasonable price. I got a new 2016 model for just under £7,000 including top box, BlueTooth kit and phone holder, Extra SmartKey, delivery, 12 months tax and 1st registration. There were a few minor marks on it as it had been on the shop floor for over 12 months.
Worth the money - definitely.
Grin factor 10 back on my face when I took it for a first ride on Christmas day.

I have ridden 3000 miles on my 2019 model. I love it. MPG seems to be around 75. Have overnighted a couple of times, stuffing clothing into the rear boot, and using a saddle top bag for everything else. You would need a top box for anything over 1 night unless you rode in the same shirt/pants/socks each day!.

My Metropolis is a 2019,I bought it sight unseen from Ritebike up north. It had about 950 miles on the clock one owner.I didn’t know really about the 120 ans thing until I discovered there were only 120 made in celebration of 120 years of making motorcycles. It has a forward and rear camera monitoring your ride.Haven’t used that yet.Incidentally they are illegal in Portugal where I live part of the year. First ride was from Reading to Bergerac in France ,where it will probably spend it’s life with me. I recently bought a bigger screen for distance riding. It came from Italy and arrived in Portugal three days later, looks substantial and a bit more protection for the hands. and will soon get a suitable trailer for it to tow behind the camper. Love it but the motorway journey was a slog but realise that’s not the main use Best part is parking up and walking away. Look forward to reading other owner’s thoughts. Thanks for having me on the forum.
