Afternoon all, I'm looking at buying a Metropolis but the only thing that's stumbling me at the moment is insurance. I've just been quoted £3800, i only have a car license and was looking at investing in some heavy duty locks and a ground anchor not to mention having it parked behind a locked gate. I was just wondering who everyone has used, I currently pay £450 for my car so I was expecting it to be somewhere near there.

I tried them today and I was quoted £1085. I've phoned a few insurers today and some have said they can't insure the bike because of what it is and others have said they can't because I don't have a bike license. I've also tried a few peugeot dealers and they've all said that noone they've sold them to have had any trouble insuring them. It's do frustrating that I'm stumbling on the insurance.

I tried Carol Nash this afternoon. I’ve already got a 6wheel policy with them so I thought I might get a favourable quote. They wanted £468 which for an old sod like me is ridiculous I’m also a member of The BMW (motorcycle) Club and we get a 15% discount with a company called Lynbrook Insurance. Result. £160 including breakdown cover and free accessories cover.

I used Lexham insurence. They were the only people in the UK I could find that would offer me any cover. Originally I paid £1300 for full comp, as a car driver. I did my full bike test and got a refund so the total cost was about £700 quid for the year fully comp. The bike license paid for itself.

It depends on your postcode. I pay 1500 pounds per year for mine as I live in London which is outrageous. My colleague living in the country side would have paid a fraction of that.

Bemoto are good as they specialise on bikes and trikes only so you can get fully comp, RAC recovery etc with a full UK driving licence for about £300 a year.
